We approached a small sample of tourists the weekend before last in the Havre des Pas Area. It soon became obvious that the responses were pretty much the same: disbelief that Jersey’s authorities would build a monstrosity on our most important skyline. Would it impact on their holiday? 90% of those asked said they would not stay in the area next time if they returned, which in most cases was doubtful. Most respondents reported sadness that ‘Jersey had lost its specialness’. There were no postive responses.

5 replies were on the lines of: “I suppose you have to do something with your rubbish – but isn’t there anywhere else you could put that thing?” And 6 people said “You don’t put that in the brochures!”
We did not do an in depth study as planned or a demographic breakdown after the initial respondents were clearly unhappy. There seemed no point.
