SEA LETTUCE
Jersey has been plagued by sea lettuce on a near annual basis. The sea lettuce (ulva) grows at an alarming rate when a combination of excess nitrates from treated sewage, pumped into the bay meets with warmed seawater lying on the shallow sloping and enclosed beach of St Aubin’s Bay.
SOS Jersey came up with an innovative solution for the problem but were met with resistance interest by the relevant Departments.
